Abstract
The presentation explores the phenomenon of the vyshyvanka (embroidered shirt) within the educational space of the Pavlysh Secondary School in the 1960s as part of the ethnocultural practices shaped by Vasyl Sukhomlynskyi’s pedagogical system. Drawing on materials from the photo archive of the Pedagogical and Memorial Museum of V. O. Sukhomlynskyi, it demonstrates how traditional embroidery—through the activities of a handicraft club led by teacher Raisa Zaza—served not merely as leisure but as a means of fostering artistic taste, diligence, and a sense of belonging to national culture. The study highlights Sukhomlynskyi’s ability, within the ideological constraints of the Soviet era, to integrate Ukrainian cultural symbols, including the vyshyvanka, into his humanistic educational concept imbued with spirituality, beauty, and patriotism. The phenomenon of the vyshyvanka in the Pavlysh School is presented as a structural component of an integral educational model aimed at shaping national identity.
