Abstract
Ukraine’s integration into the European and global research space requires domestic scientists not only to be active in publishing in prestigious international journals, but also to master a complex of digital competencies for working with scientometric databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Research objective – to analyze the current state of research in the field of developing digital competence of researchers and academic staff using scientometric databases, identify existing gaps in methodological approaches and determine promising directions for development. The study revealed a clear evolution of approaches to studying scientometric databases in the Ukrainian scientific context, which includes two stages: integration aspirations (2011–2017) and methodological developments with competence-based approach (2019–2024). The first stage was characterized by focus on general issues of integrating domestic science into the international space through scientometric databases, while the second stage was marked by the development of specific technologies for using Scopus and Web of Science, creation of educational and methodological complexes, and experimental verification of approaches to competence formation. Analysis of international publications in Scopus revealed a paradoxical situation: out of 39 found works, only 1 treats scientometric databases as a direct research object (Ukrainian authors), while in the remaining 18 works they are used as tools for studying other phenomena, indicating the leading role of the Ukrainian scientific school in this direction. Conclusions. Ukraine occupies leading positions in studying scientometric databases as an object of pedagogical influence. Significant gaps were identified: international imbalance in research, fragmentation of methodological developments, insufficient empirical research, lack of standardization of approaches. Strategic directions were determined: integration of existing developments into a unified methodological system, adaptation of Ukrainian experience for the international community, expansion of empirical base, differentiation of approaches for various fields of science.
