Abstract

The anthology presents primary source texts (or excerpts from them) by Ukrainian scientists, public education figures, teachers, and writers, which for the first time comprehensively reflect the ways in which they developed and developed (within Ukraine and the diaspora, during the second half of the 19th century and including the first decades of the 21st century) the national idea as the core of the national philosophy of education and pedagogy, and most importantly, as an important factor in national state-building. The primary sources are supplemented with biographical information about the authors and notes. The content of the publication is aimed at forming and deepening national self-identification, a sense of patriotism, modernization of their cultural and historical knowledge and professional worldview, and understanding historical memory as a field of ideological competition in a hybrid war. The materials of the textbook (complete with the monograph of the same name) are intended to enrich and update lecture courses in general secondary, pre-higher and higher education institutions and in institutes of postgraduate pedagogical education of Ukraine. The materials will also be useful in the research work of scientists, PhD candidates, teachers, and future educators.
