Abstract

The article is devoted to the role of reading as a tool for forming a person's life strategy. In the conditions of the information society, the understanding of the essence of reading as the ability to perceive and understand information that is transmitted in one way or another or reproduced by technical devices is fully actualized. It is reading books that develops the skills to critically analyze and evaluate information, broadens horizons, improves memory, stimulates brain function, increases the likelihood of achieving goals, and is a key skill for mastering a future profession. Especially relevant in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war are studies of the importance of reading as a tool for increasing stress resistance and psychological relief. The importance of reading for an individual in modern society is indicated in the Strategy for the Development of Reading for the Period Until 2032 "Reading as a Life Strategy." The tasks of libraries regarding the implementation of this Strategy in the context of popularizing reading as a tool for forming a life strategy of an individual are determined. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the significance of reading as a tool for forming a life strategy of an individual in the conditions of an information society. It is noted that the implementation of the goals and objectives of the Reading Development Strategy for the period until 2032 "Reading as a Life Strategy" will contribute to strengthening the significance of reading in Ukrainian society as a factor in the development of critical thinking and a tool for achieving success in learning and life. Purpose: The purpose of the article is to substantiate the significance of reading as a tool for forming a life strategy of an individual in the conditions of an information society. Methods. The article uses general research methods (observation, comparison, analysis and synthesis of information). Results. The results suggest that reading increases the likelihood of achieving goals, helps develop critical thinking and key skills, and can be an effective part of a stress reduction and quality of life strategy. The role of libraries is important in popularizing reading as a tool for forming a life strategy for an individual in the information society. Conclusions. The works of scientists who study the essence of reading as a tool for forming a person's life strategy are analyzed. It is summarized that it is important to develop reading skills throughout life, starting from childhood. It is noted that the implementation of the goals and objectives of the Reading Development Strategy for the period until 2032 "Reading as a Life Strategy" will contribute to strengthening the significance of reading in Ukrainian society as a factor in the development of critical thinking and a tool for achieving success in learning and life. It is argued that when promoting reading, it is important for libraries to focus on the importance of reading as a tool for forming a person's life strategy.
