Abstract

The article reveals the ideas of Ukrainian intellectuals as the main task of national-patriotic education in the modern conditions of secondary general education in Ukraine. It is determined what "Ukrainian patriotism" is; what is the role of the Ukrainian language as a school subject in the formation of national and cultural identity among Ukrainians in Ukraine; what is national and cultural identity; what are the main public values and what is attributed to patriotic values. It is highlighted what is a characteristic feature and importance in the entire educational process of educating one's identity and patriotism in a general education school in Ukraine.
