Abstract
The article reveals the relevance of developing environmental competence among students in modern conditions. It substantiates the feasibility of using practical environmental case studies as an effective tool for practice-oriented learning. Based on a review of scientific sources, the influence of project activities on the development of environmental awareness, research skills, interdisciplinary thinking, and a responsible attitude toward the environment is highlighted. Ecological and practical cases have been created that are focused on solving real environmental problems, which promotes active public participation of students and the formation of sustainable development skills. Examples of environmentally-oriented project profiles adapted to the conditions of educational institutions are provided: “The impact of climate change on the local ecosystem,” “Drinking water quality and responsible consumption,” “Development of a prototype ‘smart’ urban greenhouse and/or vertical farm,” “Ecological footprint and responsible consumption.” It is noted that the proposed cases have high pedagogical potential, as they combine research, educational, and practical activities of students. The conditions for the effective implementation of the cases are outlined: student motivation, integration with educational standards, teacher support, and access to information and technical resources. The proposed developments can be used in formal and informal education, as well as integrated into environmental education and upbringing practices in communities. Particular attention is paid to approaches to organizing interdisciplinary cooperation, the role of teachers, resource provision for projects, and partnerships with public organizations and scientific institutions. It has been confirmed that the introduction of practical environmental cases into the educational process contributes to the formation of environmental awareness, practical skills, and the ability to act in an environmentally responsible manner and in the context of sustainable development in Ukraine among students.
