Abstract
The article highlights the important problem of defense education and pre-conscription training of youth in NATO countries based on the experience of Po land. The principles of training Polish youth for military service are analyzed in the “Program and Organizational Concept of Including Military Classes of Senior Secondary Schools in the Educational Process of the Reserve Personnel of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland”, the Strategy for the Development of the National Security System of the Republic of Poland, the curriculum “Certified Military Uniformed Classes”. The implementation of defense education and pre-conscription training among schoolchildren should encompass patriotic education, civil defense, work with non-military and military threats, rescue and medical assistance, which contributes to the acquisition of competencies and high-quality preparation for military service. It is proven that the system of pre-conscription training in NATO countries is an important element of ensuring national security and forming a mobilization reserve. Different models of pre-conscription training of youth are distinguished: mandatory, voluntary and mixed. The knowledge, skills and abilities that students acquire in the process of studying the course "Education for Security" were analyzed according to the sections (I. State Security; II. Preparation for emergency and rescue operations in emergency situations of threat (mass accidents and disasters); III. Basics of first aid; IV. Defense education). It was found that among young people aged 18 to 35, short-term basic military training programs, such as "Training with the Army", "Vacations with the Army", where young people learn to use weapons and survive in emergency conditions, are becoming increasingly popular. It was studied that pre-conscription training in Poland was traditionally based on the national scouting movement. The practical significance of the proposed study lies in the use of the presented materials in the organization of the educational and educational process of secondary education institutions, teacher training and student pedagogical practice.
