Abstract
This article emphasises the growing relevance of developing teachers’ pedagogical culture, given that teachers represent the driving force of educational process – a crucial domain for both individual and societal development, as well as a component of national security. It is argued that a teacher possessing a high level of pedagogical culture is capable of cultivating in students’ a taste culture, empathy, aesthetic sensibility, civic-mindedness, and patriotism. The necessity of substantiating the conceptual foundations for the development of teachers’ pedagogical culture based on psychological and pedagogical principles is affirmed, along with the principles of cultural conformity, Ukrainian identity, and civic responsibility. The article presents an analytical studies based on the historical and pedagogical experience and the conceptual ideas of renowned educators and their theories, taking into account modern challenges in teacher education. A generalisation of conceptual perspectives on the development of teachers’ pedagogical culture, based on psychological and pedagogical principles through a retrospective theoretical and pedagogical standpoint, is conducted using methods of historical-pedagogical analysis and systematisation. The author maintains that psychological and pedagogical principles are of critical significance in the process of developing future teachers’ pedagogical culture. Certainly, a teacher must have excellent knowledge of their specific subject and science, and the skills to convey its essence using appropriate methods and tools. However, they cannot truly be a master of their craft or a mentor without knowledge of students’ individual psychophysiological and social characteristics. The mission of education lies primarily in ennobling the students’ hearts, inspiring their aspirations and desires with the highest form of human beauty – sensitivity and compassion. In such problem-based pedagogical contexts, the personal example of the teacher or mentor plays a decisive role. Accordingly, the formation of a teacher’s pedagogical culture is a key goal of teacher education. This includes core objectives such as: fostering individuality; cultivating a sense of freedom and dignity; encouraging critical and creative thinking; and promoting spirituality, civic awareness, and responsibility.
