Abstract

The article explores the phenomenon of post-traumatic growth and the personal potential for development among educators under conditions of contemporary multidimensional crises. Particular attention is given to the impact of traumatic events associated with the war in Ukraine and the long-term consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, which have significantly complicated the professional functioning of teachers and intensified their psycho-emotional burden. The relevance of this study lies in the need for a systematic understanding of the psychological mechanisms underlying educators' recovery in the face of prolonged instability and high-risk environments. The theoretical foundation of the research draws upon the life course theory of personality, the concept of life situations, positive psychology, and contemporary models of psychological resilience and post-traumatic growth (PTG). The study employed standardized questionnaires to assess stress levels, the extent of experienced crises, and the capacity for post-traumatic growth, enabling a comprehensive evaluation of educators’ recovery potential. The empirical research involved 15,060 educational professionals who had experienced the COVID-19 pandemic and currently work in regions of Ukraine exposed to heightened wartime risk. The analysis revealed variability in individual recovery resources and identified key factors influencing the development of post-traumatic growth. These include substantial life and professional experience, strong social support, opportunities for professional self-actualization, clearly defined value orientations, and the ability to optimistically plan for the future. The findings demonstrate that educators’ personal potential for recovery is a crucial factor in their psychological rehabilitation and habilitation in conditions of prolonged social instability. The article concludes that this potential may serve as a foundation for designing effective strategies to build a supportive educational environment during wartime and in the post-war recovery of the national education system.
