Abstract
The analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature and educational practice testifies to the insufficient level of research on the problem of ensuring the preparation of students of basic secondary education before choosing a study profile. The issues of content formation and technology of practical implementation of this process remain open, which determines the expediency of further investigations in this direction in theoretical and practical aspects. The above determined the purpose of the proposed article, which is to outline the pedagogical means of preparing students of basic secondary education to choose a study profile. Following the research aim, the following tasks are addressed: defining the concept of “pedagogical tools for preparing secondary school students to choose a learning profile”, outlining and briefly describing the leading tools, and identifying directions for further research in the context of the studied issues. To achieve the aim, the following methods are used: analysis of regulatory documents and scientific sources, generalization of pedagogical experience, forecasting trends, and identifying prospects. The article reveals the pedagogical means of forming basic secondary education students’ readiness to consciously choose a study profile within the framework of specialized secondary education, which, according to the authors, determines the need to organize their pre-professional training. The main content of pre-professional training consists of providing students with basic secondary education with thorough information about the content, structure, requirements of each area of specialized education, possible directions for continuing education after finishing secondary school, deepening knowledge about the nature of work in the most attractive professional sphere for the student and ways to acquire the appropriate profession. In the conclusions, the authors note that the pedagogical means of preparing students of basic secondary education to choose a study profile outlined in the article do not cover all aspects of the problem of profile self-determination. The procedure for psychological and pedagogical diagnosis of profile students’ interests and study of mechanisms and factors affecting the effectiveness of choosing a study profile requires further development. According to the authors, diagnostics should include the study of the individual characteristics of students, their interests, and abilities, as well as external factors, such as the influence of the family, the environment, social expectations, and, first of all, the negative consequences of the martial law and given the further complex post-war recovery of the country.
