Abstract

Shevchenko O. V. Formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training. – Qualification work on the rights of the manuscript. Dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in specialty 011 – «Educational, Рedagogical Sciences». State Institution of Higher Education «University of Educational Management» of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Kyiv, 2025. Annotation content The dissertation research is devoted to the problem of forming information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training. The purpose of the research was to provide theoretical justification and experimental verification of the model of forming information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training. The object of the dissertation research was the process of forming information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training; the subject of the research: a model of forming information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training. The objectives of the study: 1) to identify and substantiate the theoretical aspects of the formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training; 2) to identify the pedagogical conditions for the formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training; 3) to develop and scientifically substantiate a model for the formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training; 4) to carry out an experimental test of the effectiveness of the implementation of the model for the formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training. To achieve the goal and fulfill the tasks set, the following research methods were used: theoretical methods: analysis of scientific, methodological and regulatory provisions on determining the essence and content of the training of future military journalists, as well as the content component of the information and analytical competence of a future military journalist; synthesis, comparison, forecasting – to generalize research on the application of forms, methods and means of forming the information and analytical competence of a future military journalist in the process of professional training and determining the appropriate pedagogical conditions; theoretical modeling – to develop a model for the formation of the information and analytical competence of a future military journalist in the process of professional training; empirical methods: observation – to study the real state of the problem in pedagogical practice; questionnaire, interview, testing, self-assessment – to determine the level of formation of the information and analytical competence of the future military journalist at each stage of professional training; experiment – to verify the effectiveness of the implementation of the model of formation of the information and analytical competence of the future military journalist in the process of professional training, a diagnostic (confirmatory), research (formative), control (final) pedagogical experiment was used; methods of processing the research results: quantitative and qualitative analysis, methods of mathematical statistics, which are used to verify the effectiveness of the implementation of the developed model of formation of the information and analytical competence of the future military journalist in the process of professional training and the corresponding didactic support in the educational practice of higher education institutions. The research was carried out during 2022–2024 based on: the Military Institute of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Protocol No. 9 dated 05.05.2025); the Yevhen Bereznyak Military Academy (Protocol No. 8 dated 14 05.05.2025); the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny (Protocol No. 28 dated 05.07.2025), Zaporizhia National University (Reference No. 01/01-23/945 dated 11.06.2025). The research consisted of three stages of scientific investigation (2022–2025). The first stage (confirmatory) (2022–2023) was aimed at solving the following tasks: to analyze the state of the problem of forming information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training; to determine the theoretical foundations (scientific approaches, principles, tasks) of forming information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training; to determine the content components (motivational-value, content-procedural, communicative-activity, reflective-corrective), criteria, indicators and levels of formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training; determine the current level of formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists; substantiate pedagogical conditions and develop a model for the formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training; analyze the existing methodological support for the training of military journalists in higher educational institutions and determine the features of the formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training. At the second stage (formative) (2023–2024) of the experiment, we systematized the material on the pedagogical conditions for the formation of information and analytical competence of a future military journalist in the process of professional training; developed, substantiated, implemented and experimentally tested the effectiveness of the implementation of a model for the formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training and the corresponding pedagogical conditions in the activities of higher education institutions and higher educational institutions; the criteria and indicators of the formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training were substantiated; a methodological toolkit for the implementation of the pedagogical conditions stated in the study was developed, in particular the training course “The main task of a journalist in wartime is to survive!” as a selective component, which includes: a theoretical block, a collection of situational tasks and specific instructions designed on the principles of interdisciplinary integration; a statistical evaluation of the obtained quantitative and qualitative indicators was carried out; a final comparison of the results of the experiment in the experimental and control groups was carried out; general conclusions were systematized and formulated. At the third stage (control) – (2024–2025) – the interpretation of the obtained results, quantitative and qualitative analysis of the results of the pedagogical experiment were carried out; statistical verification, description of the obtained research results and their integration into the educational process of experimental institutions; verification of the effectiveness of the implementation of the model for the formation of future military journalists in the process of professional training and relevant pedagogical conditions; systematization and generalization of research material in dissertation work and scientific publications; publication of the main provisions and conclusions of the study. The scientific novelty and theoretical significance of the obtained research results lies in the fact that the author: for the first time clarified the content and structure of the formation of information and analytical competence in future military journalists in the context of certain criteria (motivational-value, content-processual, information communicative, analytical-creative, reflective-corrective) and levels (high, above average, average, low) of the formation of the studied competence; а model for the formation of information and analytical competence in future military journalists in the process of their professional training was developed and experimentally tested; the pedagogical essence of the concept of «information and analytical competence of a future military journalist» was determined, which is based on the ability to effectively perform professional activities in the field of journalism in martial law, relying on deep knowledge, developed skills, abilities and personal qualities necessary for objective and effective coverage of events during wars and armed conflicts; the pedagogical conditions for the formation of information and analytical competence in future military journalists in the process of professional training within the framework of the implementation of the OK for the OP «Journalism», «Military Journalism», «Public Relations in the Armed Forces» and other related OPs were summarized; awareness by future journalists at the level of convictions of the significance of information and analytical competence for professional activity, the formation of professionalism and patriotism in the process of professional training, the implementation of methodological recommendations for conducting training in conditions close to combat conditions in the practice of higher education institutions and public organizations»); the effectiveness of implementing a model for the formation of information and analytical competence in future military journalists in the process of professional training has been developed, scientifically substantiated and experimentally tested, which in its structure contains interrelated blocks (theoretical-target, organizational-content, diagnostic resultative), reflects pedagogical approaches and principles of professional training of a future military journalist, determines pedagogical conditions that contribute to the formation of information and analytical competence of a future military journalist in the process of professional training, scientific and theoretical provisions on the essence, content and features of the formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of their professional training were further developed and educational and didactic tools were developed for the formation of information and analytical competence in future military journalists in the process of professional training; the training course “The main task of a journalist in war conditions is to survive!” was developed and implemented in the practice of higher education institutions and public organizations. An analysis of scientific, methodological and regulatory literature on the research problem was carried out. It was determined that the information and analytical competence of a future military journalist is understood as the ability to effectively perform professional activities in the field of journalism in conditions of martial law. It is based on deep knowledge, developed skills, abilities and personal qualities necessary for objective and effective coverage of events during armed conflicts. It is based on deep knowledge, developed skills, abilities and personal qualities necessary for objective and effective coverage of events during armed conflicts. Analysis of the main definitions of the study in the context of the identified problem made it possible to determine that the formation of information and analytical competence of a future military journalist, as a component of professional competence, is a multi-stage and dynamic process that includes the purposeful mastery of knowledge, abilities and skills necessary for analytical activity in conditions of martial law. It covers value-motivational, content-procedural and reflective-corrective stages, the result of which is the integration of professional knowledge, practical skills of information analysis and decision-making in complex and unstable conditions of military conflicts. The structure of information and analytical competence of a military journalist is presented, which includes motivational-value, content-procedural, communicative-activity and reflective corrective components. Based on the analysis of scientific literature, the pedagogical conditions for the formation of information and analytical competence of a future military journalist have been clarified and generalized (systematic conduct of classes as close as possible to combat conditions; implementation of an individually differentiated approach to higher education applicants, taking into account the variable level of mastering the academic discipline and the degree of professional orientation to the performance of functional duties in conditions of armed conflict; orientation of future military journalists to self-realization in educational activities; high level of training of teachers of professional disciplines for future military journalists). The features of the professional training of future military journalists have been outlined, including: integration of modern technologies, which will facilitate the use of the latest technical means and software in the educational process of military universities; effective use of modern educational programs and methods that operate on the principles of innovation; extraordinary intensity and comprehensiveness of the professional activity of a military journalist, which often leads to their perception first of all as military personnel, and only then as journalists; organization of field exercises in cooperation with military units, which will allow students to immerse themselves in real working conditions; classes on psychological resilience, stress management and self-regulation methods; organization and conduct of specialized trainings that cover first aid skills, terrain orientation and behavior during shelling. A comparative analysis of the training of military journalists in the USA, Poland and Ukraine is presented according to the following criteria: name of the specialized institution, name of the educational program / course, level of education, language of instruction, duration of training, main disciplines, practical training, specifics, additional opportunities, which allowed us to conclude that the systems of training military journalists in the three countries have significant differences, reflecting their historical traditions, current military doctrines and geopolitical realities. A model of the formation of information and analytical competence in future military journalists has been developed and scientifically substantiated, which includes interrelated blocks: the theoretical and target component of the proposed model covers the goal, scientific and methodological approaches, principles and tasks of the formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of their professional training, and also determines its main structural components (motivational and value, content and procedural, communicative and activity, reflexive and correctional); The organizational and content block includes the content component of the organization of the educational process, which is aimed at the implementation of the OP «Journalism» and «Military Journalism» in domestic higher education institutions and contains pedagogical conditions that contribute to the high-quality formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training and the content, forms and methods of their implementation; the diagnostic and results block reflects the criteria, indicators, levels of formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training. The effectiveness of the implementation of the model for the formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training has been experimentally tested. The generalized results of the diagnostics are presented and their analysis has been carried out at the ascertaining and formative stages of the experiment to determine the level of formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training. It is shown that during the implementation of the model of formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training and the corresponding pedagogical conditions for its implementation, according to the communicative criterion in the control group, a high and sufficient level of formation was found in 10 % and 30 % of respondents, respectively, while in the experimental group – in 13.3 % and 40 %. According to the motivational and value criterion, in the control group, a high level was achieved by 8.3 % of respondents, a sufficient level – 33.3 %, while in the experimental group these indicators were a higher percentage compared to the CG – 15 % and 43.3 %, respectively. According to the operational and activity criterion, in the control group, a high level was recorded in 6.7 % of respondents, a sufficient level – in 26.7 %, and in the EG – 13.3 % and 41.7 %, respectively. The effectiveness of the implemented model for the formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training has been proven, as evidenced by the generalized average values: in the experimental group, the share of respondents with a high level is 13.87 %, and with a sufficient level is 41.7 %, which is higher than the indicators in the control group (8.33 % and 30 %, respectively). The statistical significance of the changes identified as a result of the analysis in the levels of information and analytical competence formation among future military journalists in the experimental and control groups was confirmed by mathematical processing of the obtained data using Student’s t-test. Differences in the distributions of cadets/students of the experimental and control groups by the levels of formation of information and analytical competence are confirmed at the significance level n1 + n2 – 2 = 118 degrees of freedom: α = 0.05 → t critical ≈ 1.98; α = 0.01 → t critical ≈ 2.63. Since all the obtained values according to the Student's t-test exceed the critical values for both levels of significance, we can conclude that the difference between the CG and the EG at all levels is statistically significant, which in turn confirms the effectiveness of implementing the model of formation of information and analytical competence of future military journalists in the process of professional training and the corresponding pedagogical conditions for its implementation.
