Abstract
The article presents a comparative analysis of the results of monitoring the level of competitiveness of two leading institutions of extracurricular education in the Kyiv region - the Municipal Institution of the Kyiv Regional Council «Center for Children and Youth of the Kyiv Region» and the Municipal Institution of the Kyiv Regional Council «Small Academy of Sciences of Student Youth». The study revealed both common and distinctive features in their activities, which allows us to conclude that there is no direct competition between them and that they have complementary functions in the field of extracurricular education in the region. The common characteristics of these institutions include: the same legal status (legal entities), a common goal of activity - ensuring the accessibility and quality of extracurricular education for children and youth, the presence of structural units (departments, offices, sections, etc.), as well as the implementation of educational programs in accordance with the needs of education seekers. However, a number of differences were identified that affect their functional specificity. In particular, one of the institutions is located in a rented building, while the other has its own material and technical base. They also differ in the level of inclusion: one is fully adapted for teaching children with special educational needs, the other - only partially. In addition, the format of organizing regional events varies: one institution holds them on the basis of other educational institutions, another provides centralized transportation of students from different districts of the Kyiv region. The number of teaching staff in the institutions is almost identical, but the coverage of group work and the total number of students differs significantly. The number and content of educational activities also varies: one institution implements seven areas, the other - only one. Thus, both institutions play an important role in the system of extracurricular education of the Kyiv region, but they carry it out in different segments and with different organizational and pedagogical approaches, which excludes competition between them as such. Their activities are complementary and aimed at meeting the diverse educational needs of the region's students.
