Abstract
The purpose of our study is to analyze the competency-based approach to the development of civic identity of teachers of vocational (vocational and technical) education institutions. Teachers have the right to be members of public organizations (volunteer, national-patriotic, educational, professional, artistic, etc.), deputies of local self-government bodies. Thus, they influence the situation in the territorial community, ensure interaction with state and non-state organizations, including international ones. A teacher acts not only as a source of civic competencies, but also as a facilitator, mentor and role model, he develops in students an understanding of civic responsibility, critical thinking skills and social interaction, creates conditions for their active participation in public life. In each educational institution, there are student self-government bodies that deal with issues of public, sports, cultural life, and the improvement of communal and household issues. That is, a competency-based approach to developing the civic identity of teachers contributes to: the formation of a conscious and responsible citizen, increasing their social activity, strengthening democratic values in society, and involving them in solving social problems.
