Abstract

This article explores the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in supporting the design and implementation of individualized learning trajectories in Ukrainian secondary education. It synthesizes contemporary international approaches to AI-enhanced education, including rule-based cognitive models, adaptive systems, learning analytics, and ethical principles guiding the use of student data. The study outlines the current state of digital infrastructure in Ukrainian schools, highlighting disparities between urban and rural areas, limitations in equipment and internet access, and insufficient digital competencies among teachers. Based on an analysis of government initiatives and pilot projects, such as updated informatics curricula and national strategies for digital education, the article identifies critical barriers to successful AI integration. These include infrastructural fragmentation, uneven access to digital tools, lack of teacher training, and absence of regulatory frameworks for ethical data use. Special attention is given to the mechanisms of personalization based on real-time analysis of students’ learning patterns, performance, and needs. The article emphasizes that effective implementation of AI in education requires not only technological innovation but also systemic pedagogical and ethical foundations. In response, strategic recommendations are proposed, including teacher professional development programs, institutional support for digital transformation, and the creation of inclusive AI-driven educational ecosystems aligned with human-centered values and national educational goals. The article contributes to the emerging discourse on AI in education by contextualizing global trends within the realities and challenges of the Ukrainian school system.
