Abstract
The article presents the results of the ascertaining stage of a pedagogical study aimed at identifying the levels of legal competence of vocational teachers of construction industry. The author substantiates the relevance of the problem in the context of modernization of vocational education and increasing requirements for legal training of teaching staff. This indicates a growing scientific interest in the issue of legal competence of vocational teachers, but at the same time, it also reveals the fragmentation of research, insufficient attention to the digital aspects of legal training and the need for a systematic study of this phenomenon at the current stage of digital transformation of education. A comprehensive analysis of the empirical data obtained while questioning teachers was carried out, which made it possible to determine the level of formation of such components of legal competence as moral and purposeful, knowledge, activity and evaluation and reflection. Particular attention is paid to the evaluative and reflective component as an indicator of teachers' ability to self-analyze, selfcontrol and realize their own role in the process of forming legal awareness of students. It was found that only a small part of the surveyed teachers considers their ability to reflect very effective, which indicates the fragmentation of this component. The analysis of the answers to the creative question showed the existence of a traditional approach to legal education and the limited use of innovative methods (role-playing games, project technologies, legal simulations). The study also revealed a low level of motivation among teachers to comprehend and improve their own methods of teaching legal disciplines. Based on the results obtained, the author concludes that it is necessary to strengthen the methodological training of teachers to teach legal aspects in the construction sector, to develop their sustainable reflective skills, and to develop a holistic model of legal competence formation that would include cognitive, activity, motivational, value and reflective blocks. The materials of the study can serve as a theoretical and practical basis for further research in the field of professional pedagogy.
