Abstract
Ukraine has faced new social, political and psychological challenges caused by the war. These factors have influenced not only the change in the form of education (distance or blended), but also certain psychological and social problems in children. The constant threat of shelling, air raid sirens have caused increased tension, nervous breakdowns, and neuroses among children. Given that the teacher must pay attention to all students in the class, children with an increased level of fear and anxiety often find themselves alone and cannot cope with these feelings. The implementation of the innovative model of “Healing Classes”, which is presented in the section of the manual, is one of the ways to overcome the above-mentioned problem. The conceptual principles of the models of “healing classes” and “trauma-sensitive learning” are to help the child strengthen his or her resilience, process existing traumatic experiences, find adaptive and protective mechanisms to preserve the psyche and prevent post-traumatic stress disorder. These models involve very simple steps and actions of adults who are close to children, adherence to certain principles and rules. The section presents the principles on which the model of “healing classes” is based. The tools for building healing classes are described, in particular, morning greetings and farewells, contact with each student, reliance on strengths and preserved resources, screening of the psycho-emotional state of children, etc. The main functions of the teacher within the framework of this approach are determined. Special attention is paid to the psycho-education of parents, which is one of the important elements of trauma-sensitive pedagogy. Simple advice is given to parents that will help achieve maximum effect.
