Abstract
The article analyzes the implementation of the tasks of the content line “Working with Data” in mathematics textbooks for grades 1 and 2, which are fully state-funded. The generalized results of the quantitative characteristics of the textbooks are presented in tables and charts. It has been established that the textbook authors, adhering to the requirements of the Standard Educational Program, included tasks that involve reading and filling in tables and interpreting bar charts. Quantitative analysis indicates that the textbooks contain a low percentage of such tasks compared to the percentage ratio of tasks in the TIMSS monitoring study. It is concluded that the factors influencing the level of task implementation include the following: the dependence of the content of tasks on other content lines; the relatively small volume of educational material typical for the first cycle of primary education; and sanitary and hygienic norms that impose restrictions on the volume and font size of textbooks. The research results will be useful for authors in the development of textbooks, as the renewal of educational materials is currently a relevant issue. The article emphasizes that the conducted study does not exhaust all aspects of the problem of implementing the tasks of the content line “Working with Data.” Prospects for further research include analyzing textbooks for the second cycle of primary education, developing methodological guidelines for fostering younger students’ data skills, and ensuring continuity with secondary school education.
