Abstract
The article is dedicated to the analysis of the state of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Ukrainian schools, specifically its achievements and challenges. It examines the importance of integrating the principles of sustainable development into the educational process, which is particularly relevant in the context of war and Ukraine's post-war reconstruction. The authors emphasize that ESD contributes to the formation of students' critical thinking, environmental awareness, and social responsibility. Despite certain successes, such as the introduction of the course 'Lessons for Sustainable Development,' there are serious problems, including insufficient integration of ESD into formal education and a lack of trained pedagogical staff. The article focuses on the need to develop modern teaching methodologies that align with global trends and the national context. An important aspect is the digital transformation of education, which can facilitate the effective implementation of ESD. The conclusions highlight the need for comprehensive measures to overcome the challenges facing ESD in Ukraine."
