Abstract

It is stated that the demand for civic education has increased in connection with the actualization of the issue of establishing Ukrainian national and civic identity in the context of repelling the full-scale armed aggression of the rf against Ukraine. The stages of development of the European model of civic education from «сivics education» (actually social science, focused on providing knowledge in social sciences) to the concept of «сitizenship education» (the formation of civic competencies of an individual, which enable him to be an active subject of socio-political practices of a democratic society) are highlighted. The opinion is expressed that the basis for building a domestic model of civic education should be the modern integrated European model «сivic and сitizenship education», which reflects the corresponding integrated content of civic education.
