Abstract
The role of narrative texts in the assimilation of new scientific knowledge – "one of the most effective and popular ways of disseminating ideas in the world" – is revealed (From the report of the W. Nuffield Foundation). The main didactic functions of the educational narrative as a communicative message, the forms of presenting the scientific result, the dissemination of knowledge and information in general have been determined. Examples of the use of educational narrative in new generation chemistry textbooks for the implementation of the functions of informing, interpreting, persuasion, interest, and attitude are analyzed. A conclusion is made about the tendency to reduce the educational narrative in the textbook in favor of a fragmentary presentation of the content. The falsity of this trend is indicated.
