Abstract
The article highlights the main scientific and methodological approaches to the development and implementation of the content of model curricula for students in grades 1-4 and 5-10 with intellectual disabilities in accordance with the implementation of the Concept of the New Ukrainian School. The emphasis is on the need to adapt and modify the content of education to the needs of students with special educational needs. A number of legislative documents in the education of individuals with special educational needs, aimed at improving the quality of education and providing psychological and pedagogical support, are analyzed. A number of problems that require immediate solutions are substantiated: ensuring innovative content of education by developing model curricula based on a competency-based approach, creating an educational environment that ensures the availability of high-quality education and successful socialization of students with special educational needs. The author outlines methodological approaches and principles for building model curricula, presents their structure, which covers the content of the subject, types of educational activities, expected learning outcomes and areas of correctional and developmental work. Modern practices of teaching students with intellectual disabilities are characterized, which involve the use of individual and differentiated approaches when teaching subjects and correctional and developmental classes. Generalized experience and methodological recommendations are presented on the organization of a special educational environment, the use of special methods and techniques for teaching students with intellectual disabilities. The emphasis is on the importance of combining the education of students with intellectual disabilities with correctional and developmental classes on social and everyday orientation, speech development, sensory and psychomotor development, rhythmics, therapeutic physical education, classes with a psychologist. Updated software for correctional and developmental support of students in grades 5-10 with intellectual disabilities is presented. Prospects for further research on the outlined issues are presented.
