Abstract
The article substantiates theoretically the features of a psychological toolkit for examining the professional identity of specialists (consultants) working in inclusive resource centres. The psychological toolkit was based on the understanding of these specialists’ professional identity as a metaproperty that helps specialists maintain work integrity and autonomy in the modern space of educational services, namely, in the field of education of people with special needs. The study purpose was to select and justify theoretically the psychological methods for researching the professional identity of specialists (consultants) working in inclusive resource centres that were in line with the modern trends in the specified field. Research methods. To achieve the purpose, the following theoretical methods were used: analysis of scientific literature on this topic, systematization and generalization of scientific and practical experience regarding the regularities of professional identity formation in specialists (consultants) and analysis of selected empirical methods (selected psychological methods were: the method studying professional motivation (T. Dutkevych and O. Savitskaya); the method estimating motivation for success (T. Ehlers); the method studying personality according to personality types proposed by K. Jung; the Snyder Self-Monitoring Scale; the method identifying a personality adaptability / non-adaptability (C. Rogers); the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking; the “Readiness for self-development” method (V. Pavlov); the test on creativity actualization (D. Jones). Results: We substantiated the structure and content of the toolkit revealing the component composition and psychological features of specialists’ (consultants’) professional identity, in particular their motives (work itself; social significance of their work; self-affirmation in work; professional mastery); technical characteristics (tendencies to achieve high results; to win; to be better than others; orientation to specific goals and willingness to make significant efforts to achieve them; the capability to cope with stressful situations; to improve themselves and to learn new constantly, etc.); interpersonal characteristics of interaction (communicative easiness; leadership skills; being in the centre of attention; easiness in contact establishing, etc.); being in context (stability of behaviour; appropriate behavioural changes depending on a situation, etc.); characteristics of adaptibility (adaptability/non-adaptability to the surrounding social environment; preservation of the capability to further development and changes; to change habits/form new skills; to develop skills that help in new conditions; socio-psychological flexibility according to changing situations, etc.); creativity (flexibility; originality; non-standard thinking, etc.); acmeological characteristics (readiness for self-development; desire to know oneself, etc.); auto-psychological characteristics (a specialist’s dedication to his/hew work; self-disclosure of own potential; self-affirmation in professional activities, etc.).
