Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the process of evolution of integration of general secondary education of Ukraine into the European educational space. The study analyzes the state and development of national education during the period of Ukraine’s independence in the context of the European integration of school education. The key documents that determine the directions of development of school education in Ukraine in the context of regulating the European integration of national education are identified. The relevance of the study in the context of Ukraine’s obtaining the status of a candidate for membership in the European Union in 2022 is emphasized. It is found that further European integration of Ukrainian education is recognized as a key task for the development of the education system in the long term. The author characterizes the evolution of Ukraine’s European integration in the field of school education, which is a complex and multifaceted process that requires a comprehensive approach and a clear strategy on the part of the state. Four stages of the process of integration of general secondary education into the European educational space are distinguished, in particular: 1. The initial stage (1991–2005); 2. The stage of deepening integration (2005–2015); 3. The stage of systemic transformation (2015–2022); 4. The existential-modernization stage (2022 – present time). It is concluded that the integration of Ukrainian education into the European Education Area is a priority of the state policy in the field of education and science. Integration into the European educational area and international educational systems, the introduction of European educational standards and best practices can play a key role in the restoration and development of education in Ukraine after the war.
