Abstract

The article updates the problem of conducting scientific research by young scientists taking into account the principles and values of research integrity in the conditions of reforming the system of evaluating research activity. The theoretical foundations of the implementation of research integrity among young scientists are analyzed. It was noted that the lack of experience and knowledge, the high level of mobility of scientists, particularly young ones, associated with European integration processes, actualizes the problem of unification, harmonization, and convergence of approaches to the implementation of the principles of research integrity and research practices. An overview of key documents and scientific intelligence regarding the specifics of teaching research integrity to young scientists/interns is presented; the factors that encourage scientists to violate ethical standards are noted. The importance of studying the effectiveness of teaching research integrity and creating conditions for the formation of its culture was noted. It was analyzed and determined that one of the methods of determining the effectiveness of teaching research integrity is self-assessment. The analysis and systematization of effective practices of teaching research integrity of young scientists made it possible to formulate recommendations for the promotion of research integrity of young scientists in higher education institutions of Ukraine: to create in universities a system of training all research participants, accompanying and mentoring young scientists, with the aim of conducting proper research activities and preventing violations of the principles of research integrity at all stages of a research career; identify a person and/or create a structure responsible for observing research integrity at the institutional level; to improve the efficiency of scientific research management in universities, to carry out an annual assessment of the formation of a culture of research integrity in the university environment and to publish the results of the reports; to create an environment conducive to the formation of a culture of research integrity, to ensure the broad involvement of young scientists in the processes.
