Abstract

The author emphasizes the attention of psychologists, teachers and adults who are close to the child in the conditions of war, that the work of a psychologist in extreme conditions such as war, armed conflict differs from the usual psychotherapeutic situation and the child’s behavior also manifests itself differently. The goal and main tasks of psychological assistance under the conditions of traumatic events in extreme situations should, first of all, be the prevention of acute panic reactions, psychogenic neuropsychological disorders; increasing the adaptation capabilities of the family and, as a result, of the child. The article emphasizes that quick psychological assistance to families should be based on the principle of intervention in the superficial layers of consciousness, that is, on working with symptoms, not with syndromes. The article also describes the main areas of work of a practical psychologist, such as diagnostic and prognostic activity; psychological support of teachers; psychological support of parents; corrective and developmental work with children with special educational needs. The author has revealed in detail the corrective and developmental work of a practical psychologist with a child, namely: the development and correction of cognitive processes, the formation of their arbitrariness; correction of self-esteem as an important driving force of personality formation; correction of emotional disorders due to a traumatic event and pathological character traits; prevention of mental overload; prevention of maladjustment to the educational institution (especially if the child is from a family of immigrants); development of emotional stability; correction of interpersonal relationships in the children’s team; correction of «teacher-student» relationships; development of communicative qualities, positive social communication; stimulation of personal growth. The author emphasizes that the process of reconstruction during and after hostilities on the territory of the country is a complex process because, first of all, it is connected not only with the external restoration of economic and legal processes, the reintegration of territories and a number of political aspects, but also with the resocialization of citizens, in particular, the most vulnerable part of Ukrainians are children with special needs. It is about restoring a sense of security, the availability of opportunities, emotions, and behavior that were possible during peacetime. Children need recovery, answers to a number of questions, and accurate guidance on how their future will shape up.
