Abstract

Self-esteem refers to the core of a young man's personality and significantly affects his behavior. Therefore, the purpose of the research is the theoretical substantiation and experimental study of the relationship between self-esteem, academic success and the level of demands of vocational (vocational and technical) students of the Mykolaiv Vocational Industrial Lyceum. The tasks of the research included: theoretical analysis of the literature on the problem of studying the relationship between the level of harassment, academic performance and self-esteem in youth; an experimental study of the relationship between self-esteem, academic success and the level of demands of education seekers. Among the studied students of the Mykolaiv Vocational Industrial Lyceum, 17-year-old girls with an average level of academic success prevail. In order to study their self-esteem, we used the methods "Research of adolescent self-esteem" (G. Kazantseva) and "Research of self-esteem (Dembo-Rubinshtein modified by M. Parafiyan). Education seekers with adequate self-esteem predominate (60 %), there are significantly fewer people with overestimated (22 %) and underestimated self-esteem (18 %). Individuals with high and medium levels of harassment and self-esteem prevailed among the studied education seekers. By age, level of academic success, self-esteem and level of harassment, no significant differences between boys and girls were found. According to the level of success among boys and girls, those with an average level of education and adequate self-esteem prevail. According to age, gender, self-esteem and level of harassment, no significant differences were found between students of different levels of academic success. According to the level of self-esteem, individuals with adequate self-esteem prevail among students with average and sufficient levels of success. Achievers who study better have a higher level of harassment and self-esteem. By age and sex, we did not find any significant differences between students with different self-esteem: boys predominate among students with adequate self-esteem, while girls predominate among those with inadequate (overestimated or underestimated) self-esteem. According to the level of academic success, individuals with an average level of self-esteem predominate among students with adequate and low self-esteem, that is, students with high self-esteem study worse, and vice versa. The analysis of the levels of harassment of self-esteem of education seekers (Dembo-Rubinstein method) with different self-esteem (the methodology of G. Kazantseva) shows that there are no significant differences between them on all scales, but those with low self-esteem have the highest level of harassment, and those with high self-esteem have a slightly lower self-esteem higher than in other categories.
