Abstract

The article is devoted to the theoretical analysis of approaches to the study of psychological characteristics of men’s sexual behavior in conditions of war and definition of the research tools. Relevance of the study comes from the fact that in wartime sexual behavior of men can be significantly changed due to stressful situations, rethinking of values and experiencing traumatic events. In addition, military conflicts can increase the risk of sexual violence and exploitation, particularly among military, refugees and civilians. Results of the analysis testified that in the study of this topic it is worth relying on a biopsychosocial approach that provides an opportunity to integrate biological, psychological and social indicators of sexual behavior of men. It was established that the behavioral aspects of male sexuality correlate with sexual self-esteem, body image and a sense of psychological well-being. In its turn it manifests through sexual scenarios on cultural, interpersonal and intrinsic psychic levels. Research on male sexual behavior can also be studied through the lines of demarcation with women’s sexual behavior. The mentioned above differ in the following characteristics: 1) the power of sexual desire; 2) a way to satisfy the need from passive-aggressive to active-aggressive; 3) motivation and legitimacy, 4) sexual health and feelings of psychological well-being; 5) instrumentality. The proposed list of diagnostic tools includes sex-role questionnaire S. Bem. (BSRI), "Types of sexual scenarios" R. Suvivuo and test "MSAQ" W. E. Snell Jr.. (adaptation of V. Gupalovskaya), questionnaire of instructions for sex Aizenko and methodology for assessing the sexual profile of M. Jaffe and E. Ferwick. Promising direction of further research is to isolate and detail behavioral parameters of men’s sexual behavior , activated by different life circumstances: from everyday to extraordinary. The later ones include military threat and participation in hostilities as well as development and adaptation of diagnostic tools.
