Abstract
The article reveals the essence of integration and integration processes at the transitional stages between the levels of education, namely early childhood education and care and primary school, and characterizes the peculiarities of the European Union (EU) integration policy in the field of education and upbringing of children of early school age. In accordance with this goal, a detailed analysis of the latest research and publications of Ukrainian and foreign scholars on the problems of educational integration was carried out. It has been established that the key areas of research on integration processes in education include inclusive education, interdisciplinary integration, integration processes at different levels of education, integration of migrants, global and intercultural integration. The key concepts of the study are analyzed, namely: “integration”, ‘educational integration’, and it is established that integration is interpreted as the process of combining different parts or elements into a single system that works as a whole to improve the functionality, efficiency or development of a system or structure, and educational integration is defined as the process of combining different components of the educational system, including learning content, teaching methods, levels of education, cultural and social aspects, in order to create a single, holistic educational environment aimed at ensuring continuity, integrity and access. The analysis of the EU education policy allowed us to define the goals of educational integration, which are to create a holistic, accessible, inclusive and effective education system that ensures harmonious personal development, interconnection between different levels of education and adaptation to modern social and economic challenges. In addition, seven key models of educational integration are characterized. The author concludes that the EU integration policy in the field of early childhood education and care is effective.
