Abstract
Improving the quality of higher education is a priority direction for many progressive countries in Europe. The Bologna Process has been a revolutionary step towards creating an integrated European educational space. Given the impact of globalization and informatization processes on the education sector, a comparative analysis of higher education in developed European Union countries, studying the methodology of implemented curricula and methodologies for providing educational services, becomes particularly relevant. The diversity of higher education systems in different European countries has been acquiring common features without losing their national identity. A comparative analysis of the methodology of higher education institutions functioning in progressive European countries such as the United Kingdom, the Federal Republic of Germany, France, Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands, and Poland has allowed for the identification of constructive ideas on the path to modernization, reform, and improvement of the higher education system in Ukraine. The specifics of providing educational services in higher education and the features of curricula in progressive Western European countries have been examined. It has been established that for most European Union countries, a gradual approach to higher education (bachelor's, master's, doctoral) is characteristic. There is autonomy of higher education institutions in internal and external functioning, student-centeredness (granting students the right to independently choose disciplines and courses for study), and more. The European approach to higher education implementation is characterized by a competency-based approach, which involves acquiring knowledge and skills applicable to practical activities. The development of national qualification frameworks is based on the concept of lifelong learning and orientation towards labour market mobility. The analysis of the activities of the Working Group on Teaching and Learning within the Bologna Coordination Group has allowed for the identification of key vectors, including defining directions for the development of the international education space and ensuring the creation of flexible and mobile learning trajectories for obtaining higher education. Examples of university curricula highlight the diversity of higher education in various European countries and provide an overview of the respective educational activity systems.
