Abstract
A geography teacher possesses knowledge, skills, abilities, experience and value attitudes as the main components of research competencies that are formed in educational activities. The research work of a future teacher requires constant evaluation of his own pedagogical work, studying the experience of other teachers, self-education and creative search throughout life. Research methods help to form a future teacher's personal pedagogical experience during professional practice, which establishes and formulates the laws of nature (theoretical methods), as well as independently organize observations of the geographical object of research, analyze the data obtained and be able to present them (empirical methods) depending on the set goal and objectives.
