Abstract
We live in an era of migration flows, which often leads to violent conflicts and unbridled populism in managing relations with those who are different from us, speak a different language, practice a different religion, etc. Unfortunately, the history of humanity shows that cultural differences between people tend to increase, and there are no signs that values will converge towards global cultural citizenship. EU citizens are not sufficiently successful in coping with otherness. Erasmus and Erasmus+ exchange programs help reduce prejudice, but they do not change the balance of power between cultures, so intercultural contacts alone are not enough.
