Abstract
The problem of project activity in vocational (vocational and technical) education institutions in the preparation of future cooks on the basis of a competency-based approach is highlighted. It is determined that this is a complex, innovative pedagogical technology that includes search, research, calculation and other types of work performed by students independently with the organizational and advisory support of a teacher for the purpose of practical or theoretical solution of the problem with the mandatory presentation of the results obtained. It is substantiated that the formation of professional competence of a future cook is carried out more productively if the educational process takes into account and implements project technology. It is concluded that by working on projects, students gain experience in determining the main and intermediate goals and tasks, ways to solve them, learn to choose the optimal ones; make and justify their choice, foresee its consequences; develop skills for independent acquisition of new knowledge, etc.
