Abstract
The article presents the findings of a qualitative study by conducting focus groups among educators of secondary education and out-of-school education, and pupils to identify expectations for coverage of Ukraine's European integration in parliamentary education. It was found that there are not enough educational activities for educators in Ukraine related to the European Union and Ukraine's European integration. It is determined that teachers consider the following topics to be priority: knowledge of parliamentary democracy in general, as well as integration into the European Union and the European Parliament in particular; knowledge of how the EU functions and how countries join it; knowledge of how the European Parliament works and what is important for Ukraine to prepare for accession to the EU. It was found that pupils considered the following important changes for themselves after Ukraine acceded to the EU: improved quality of education, stable economy, expanding labor market, changes in legislation, improved healthcare, and demographic situation in the country. Ukrainian pupils expect cooperation with pupils from other EU member states in the following formats: joint games; workshops; education development projects; study visits related to creativity and art; student exchange programs; study visits and events aimed at cultural exchange; and working groups to address common issues. It is noted that it is important to use interactive forms of learning for children: simulation games, debates, lectures with interactive elements, board games, movies, and videos in Tik Tok, and to receive such information from peers on a peer-to-peer basis. It is concluded that the development of a separate course on Ukraine's European integration and the activities of the European Parliament is not considered appropriate due to the overload of curricula in secondary schools. Instead, the Educational Center of Ukrainian Parliament can develop and implement a program for extracurricular education or an elective course that includes the above topics and forms of work.
