Abstract

The article is devoted to media education as a priority area of modern education. The result of media education is media literacy. The importance of developing media literacy is substantiated. In modern conditions, the education system should focus on increasing the level of awareness of all participants in the educational process regarding the use of various programs, applications, online resources, as well as artificial intelligence. It is emphasized that media literacy involves mastering various skills, including critical perception, analysis, evaluation of media texts, understanding of both their political and cultural context. Media literacy, and in particular cyber security of the younger generation, becomes especially important in the context of the war in Ukraine. Today, in Ukraine, media education is an important component of the process of modernization of the education system. Modern realities in Ukraine require a person to possess the skills of critical thinking, mastery of verification, verification of information, content, etc. The introduction of media education into the education system of Ukraine is undoubted, because it is part of the information security of the country, performs a strategic function in the education of patriotism of the youth, and the formation of Ukrainian identity. In our opinion, one of the conditions for the successful implementation of media education in Ukraine is the readiness of educators to solve media education problems and contradictions. Modern teachers are required not only to be media literate themselves, but also to act as an "intellectual guide" for the pupil/student in the bowels of the boundless media space. For this, teachers need to rebuild the usual forms of work, improve the content of educational material and forms of preparation for lessons. Media literacy should become a basic element of policy in the field of information consumption and cover all categories of people.
