The article presents a theoretical interpretation of how family-oriented expectations of modern students, as well as the readiness of a young person for future family life. By analyzing scientific views on the essence of the concepts of "social expectations", "marriage and family expectations", etc., the article clarifies the essence of the concept of "family-oriented expectations of modern students", its components. "Family-oriented expectations of modern students" are considered as a process of mental regulation of behavior, which is provided by the cognitive, emotional-value and behavioral readiness of the individual for future family life. Describing family-oriented expectations as a process, we distinguish the following structural components in it: "expected family environment", "expected husband/wife", "expected distribution of roles in the family system in the implementation of family functions", "expected number of children", "expected performance of the partner's parental role", "expected intimate sphere in married life", "expected need for moral and emotional support from the partner", etc. "Readiness of a young person for future family life" is considered as a psychological phenomenon, encompassing an integral set of qualities, combining the presence of knowledge, skills and abilities from family pedagogy, the basics of reproductive culture, a positive attitude to future family life, a conscious awareness of responsibility for the effective performance of marital and parental roles, which ensure in the future the ability of a young person to consciously plan future married life and the birth of children. The structural components of the concept of "readiness of a young person for future family life" are identified, such as: 1) a certain amount of knowledge: about the importance of family in human life and its functions; about marital and parental roles, their functions, responsibility, ways of interaction between young spouses and with the future child; knowledge of the basics of reproductive health; 2) the presence of empathic ability, positive attitude to new responsibilities, the desire to consciously and responsibly identify marital and parental feelings; the ability to self-improve; 3) the presence of elementary everyday skills necessary for future married life, the skills of elementary child care and creating a safe environment for him/her; the ability to apply the necessary knowledge in communication and interpersonal interaction; the ability to regulate their own emotions and behavior. The sensitivity of adolescence for the formation of readiness of a young person for future family life is considered and proved (young people are quite actively included in adult life, learn social norms, form identity; social and moral qualities of a high school student are formed at an accelerated pace; there is a need for self-education; a worldview, a system of value judgments, beliefs and ideals are actively formed, social attitudes of a person are laid; the ability to selfcontemplation and self-expression is strengthened, etc.).
