Abstract

The article is devoted to the formation of mathematical competence in children with intellectual disabilities in the context of a competency-based approach to education. The author examines the key aspects of mathematical education of students in this category, in particular the importance of developing mathematical concepts, computational skills and their impact on socialization and quality of life. Particular attention is paid to individual approaches and teaching methods, in particular the multisensory approach, the use of visual aids, game methods and the integration of learning with real life. It has been determined that the use of various strategies and close cooperation with parents are important factors in the development of mathematical competence, which has a positive effect on the cognitive development of children and contributes to their adaptation in society.
