Abstract

This publication focuses on the importance of value orientations for wellbeing even in times of war. Due to the social challenges that have befallen Ukrainians, «Ukrainian wellbeing» has a slightly different content compared to the concept used in world positive psychology. Ukrainian studies that highlight the national specificity of the concept of wellbeing, in particular the wellbeing of educators, show the mechanisms of subjectivity in building the wellbeing of Ukrainians and touch on the connection between wellbeing and professional activity are proposed. Particular attention is paid to the issues of wellbeing in times of war and the additional traumatization of society due to the influence of the mass media. This article presents the results of a pilot study on various aspects of educators’ wellbeing in comparison with representatives of other professions. The results of the surveys, which lasted from 05.2022 to 05.2024 and covered samples from 300 to 4670 people, mainly representatives of the pedagogical community, are presented. This study accompanied the activities of psychological support for Ukrainians. The survey focused on identifying various aspects of the resilience of Ukrainians and is indirectly related to their readiness to move toward prosperity and post-war recovery. The focus of the research was on respondents’ perceptions of their own wellbeing (Ryff C., 2016), the connection between wellbeing and coping strategies (BASIC Ph, Mooli L., 2013), and the readiness of Ukrainians for post-traumatic growth (Tedeschi R., 2018). The results of the study made it possible to identify the following components of the Ukrainian «wellbeing formula»: the value of life in every moment and manifestation, a tolerant attitude to various forms of social activity; clarity of vision of the desired individual and/or social situation, and belief in the effectiveness of one’s own efforts to build the desired image of happiness; formation of an environment for achieving defined goals, and self-acceptance in the chosen role and activity.
