Abstract
The purpose of the article. An educational program for improving the qualifications of primary school teachers is presented, which ensures the development of their methodological and mathematical competence. Methodology. The following methods are used: theoretical (analysis of normative documents for the functioning and development of the education system, psychological, pedagogical and methodical literature, educational and methodological support for the elementary course of mathematics; theoretical modeling); empirical (observation; experimental; psychodiagnostic). Scientific novelty. The necessity of teacher training for effective professional pedagogical activity on the basis of competence is substantiated, which is now a socially significant task in the context of thorough modernization of the education system. The terminological field of the conducted research was analyzed, its leading concepts (subject-methodical competence, teacher's methodological competence and others) were defined. The purpose, content orientations, and expected results of the educational program for improving the qualifications of teachers "Methodology for the development of mathematical competence of elementary school students" have been revealed. The experience of organizing a pilot implementation of an educational program at advanced training courses for primary school teachers and methodologists of postgraduate pedagogical education institutions is described; the results of testing course participants are given. Conclusions. The developed educational program for improving the qualifications of primary school teachers "Methodology for the development of mathematical competence of elementary school students " is designed to ensure the effective development of methodological and mathematical competence of teachers, which confirms the positive results of its pilot implementation. The use of innovative interactive forms and methods of teaching (trainings, quests, group creative tasks, didactic modeling, etc.) contributes to the active involvement of teachers in cognitive activities, the development of their critical thinking and creativity. The implementation of the program ensures that teachers master the methodological systems of forming the system of mathematical knowledge, abilities, skills, and experience of activity on competence tasks in younger schoolchildren. The introduction of a modern educational program on the methodology of teaching mathematics in primary school is necessary for the professional development of teachers in the conditions of education reform.
