Abstract

The introduction to the program describes the learning course’s basic ideas (holistic model of health, M. Furlong's model of children’s and young people’s mental health, understanding well-being as a quality of life), the purpose and objectives of the course, implementation ways of model program, the structure of its content and generalized course study results. Taking into account the modern understanding of the developmental peculiarities of children with intellectual disabilities and the existing limitations in their adaptive behavior, the Program pays special attention to teach children the social behavior rules, calming strategies and emotional control skill, communication rules and interaction skill, as well as to forming the value positions, views, beliefs, motives in order to mastering of various types activities. The course content is structured according to the content lines that cover the entire period of health care educational field’s study and which specify the approximate studying sequence of specific 23 topics. For the convenience in organizing the students' educational and cognitive activities by teacher, the following is presented in tabular form for each topic: the proposed content and basic knowledge of the course; types of students’ educational activities; expected learning outcomes; direction of corrective and developmental work.
