Abstract
The model curriculum in Ukrainian literature for grades 7-10 grades of special general secondary education institutions for children with intellectual disabilities is aimed at forming cross-cutting skills defined by the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education, namely: reading with understanding, which involves the ability to emotionally and intellectually perceive and understand what is read; critically evaluate information in literary texts of various genres and use information to enrich one's own experience and spiritual development; express one's own thoughts, feelings, interact with others orally and in writing; interact with others in the digital space; follow the norms of literary language; perceive and use information to achieve life goals in various communication situations.
