Abstract

The purpose of the article is a methodological analysis of the study of mechanisms for protecting national values in the field of science “Public Administration”. The subject of the study is a set of principles, methods and scientific approaches of public administration to protect national values, which are used in Ukraine and foreign countries. The methodological basis of the study is the theoretical justification of the features of state mechanisms for protecting national values from the standpoint of systemic, analytical, historical, axiological approaches; systems of interrelated and complementary general scientific and special research methods, in particular comparative, situational, systemic and structural-functional analysis. To achieve the goals and objectives of the study, the author presents the results of the analysis and systematization of scientific works of domestic scientists on the protection of national values, outlines methodological approaches to the study of state mechanisms for protecting the national values of the individual, the values of society and the values of the state. The structure of the dissertation work is outlined, annotations to each of the sections are built on the empirical basis of the results of a survey of students in 2022-2023 during the full-scale aggressive invasion of Russia in Ukraine to determine the basic values of Ukrainian society (the research base was Kiev National University, Black Sea National Peter Mogila University and State Educational Institution "University of Educational Management" (APNU). To conduct a survey, the author of the article presented a questionnaire regarding Ukrainians’ definition of basic national values, such as conciliarity, social justice, patriotism, tolerance, spirituality, hospitality, respect for family, “cordocentrism” and a number of others that form the basis of our Ukrainian mentality. Russian armed aggression against Ukraine is viewed by the public as a war of values. The author's substantiation of the methodology for studying state mechanisms for the protection of national values in Ukraine is carried out for the long-term government of the future on the issue of strengthening sovereignty and preserving the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
