Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of contextual tasks in chemistry as an important tool for the formation of natural and scientific competence of students. On the basis of the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education and the concept of the New Ukrainian School, the authors justify the role of key competencies and cross-cutting skills that create the basis for successful self-realization of students. The contextual tasks given in the article contribute to the development of critical thinking, communication skills and a creative approach. Attention is also focused on tasks that help students apply knowledge in practice, stimulating their cognitive activity through interdisciplinary integration.
