Abstract
School civic education is represented as a system in the aggregate of the following components: pedagogically adapted scientific knowledge of democracy, civil society, rule of law, rights, freedoms and responsibilities of man and citizen; ability and experience to take an active, conscious and responsible participation in the life of society and the state; Civic values / values of democracy and their perception of students as personal values. It is established that conceptually and meaningful civic education makes it possible to satisfy the need for Ukrainian society in the implementation of European values, as well as to answer the global challenges and threats that Ukraine has arisen in connection with full -scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation, in particular to ensure sustainability during the war. and post -war restoration of Ukraine as a sovereign, independent and democratic state. On the basis of the Western / European Model (CITIZENSHIP Education), a generalized model of teaching civic education at the level of basic secondary education is proposed, within which: the purpose of training is to develop civic qualities of personality, civic and social competences; content-a set of civic knowledge, skills, values and attitudes integrated into the content of the subjects of civic and historical educational fields (history and foundations of law) with the implementation of cross-curricular relations with other educational fields, in particular linguistic and literary; The use of interactive and information and communication technologies, problematic training, prose activities, priority is provided. It is emphasized on the creation of a democratic school environment as a component of the model and the relevant organizational and pedagogical condition of effective school civic education.
