Abstract
The article is devoted to the consideration of society's requirements to the teacher as a specialist and an individual in the context of Europeanization of education. In the article, the author analyzes the issues of the current concept of teacher quality as a personality, class manager, didactics, which reflects its own professional development and improves the educational program. The author suggests problems of teacher training in Slovakia by practice such as insufficient connection of academic and professional training, mostly good knowledge of educational content, but inability to didactically transform it into curriculum for the relevant age group, unpreparedness to solve educational problems, classroom discipline, work with integrated students, adequately communicate with students and parents and insufficient teaching skills (little practice). In Slovakia, when preparing for a future profession, teachers encounter several concepts that also contradict each other. On the one hand, they acquire deep knowledge from the fields of their approbations preparing them for science, at the same time they call for greater knowledge from practice, for which they will only partially prepare their study of teaching (academic concept). At the same time, teachers perceive the need to teach students as if to live in the future and for the future (progressive concept), which would mean relieving the content of education from «unnecessary» knowledge, which is happening only slowly in Slovakia.
