Abstract
The content of the article raises issues of ethnographic identity. The article analyses how the subject competence of students of general educational institutions can be formed in geography lessons through the importance of ethnographic features. The formation of ethnographic knowledge of students in geography lessons is improved if the details of deductive representations are involved, the principles of visualization using photos, tapes, illustrations, art objects are used, artisans who learn embroidery techniques are invited, etc. Various activities of students are organized in the form of performances, educational games, debates, etc. Therefore, the method of studying geography through the formation of ethnographic competence has a universal character and contains significant variable potential.
