Abstract
The methodological recommendations highlight the theoretical foundations and prerequisites for the development of third-age education. The content of the regulatory and legal support for social protection of the elderly is characterized, the expediency of the activities of the Third Age Universities as socio-cultural centers created for the elderly in order to implement the principle of lifelong learning is substantiated. The domestic experience of organizing educational activities for the elderly is studied and generalized. Methodological recommendations for the creation and development of a network of third-age universities in Ukraine are presented. The article is addressed to managers, social workers, teaching staff of formal and non-formal education institutions, scientists, and specialists in the field of adult education.
