Abstract

The publication focuses on learning losses in the Ukrainian language, which can negatively affect the performance of students from national communities. Learning losses in the Ukrainian language can be noticeable already in primary school, further affect the mastery of the content of basic and specialised secondary education, and in the long run may interfere with the satisfaction of social needs and demands, cause a young person's slow adaptation to the new environment, impede the establishment of relationships with peers, higher education, and professional fulfilment. The author emphasises the need to conduct special monitoring studies to identify learning losses and proposes a number of measures to minimise them.
