Abstract
The article analyzes place, role and importance of ecological culture in the structure of multicultural personality of applicants for education. Conceptual and categorical apparatus of research is defined, in particular, the terms «personality», «culture», «multicultural personality», «multicultural education», «multicultural competence», «ecological culture» are investigated. It is indicated that the term «multicultural personality» is identified with one that has the ability to effectively communicate, interact and cooperate with representatives of different cultures; characterized by a high level of tolerance, empathy, adaptability, cultural sensitivity and openness to new experiences. In the context of globalization and intercultural contacts, a multicultural personality is able to function effectively in different cultural contexts, maintaining harmonious relationships and promoting mutual understanding between people. It is proved that the process of formation of a multicultural personality was influenced depending on the prevailing paradigm in a certain society, in particular the theory of intercultural competence D. Deardorff, Models of Cultural Intelligence (CQ) P. Earley and S. Ang. It is investigated that in the process of realization of the concept of sustainable development the ecological culture, which is a component in the structure of multicultural personality of applicants for education, is actualized,. On the basis of the carried out analysis it is determined that ecological culture includes: ecological knowledge as understanding of basic ecological processes, ecosystem interconnections and environmental problems; environmental values, namely: recognition of nature and environmental stability importance, awareness of personal responsibility for environment preservation; environmental skills, that is, practical skills and actions aimed at reducing negative impact on nature, conserving resources and maintaining environmental balance; environmental practices, or specific actions and behaviors that reflect environmental knowledge and values in everyday life. It is established that work on formation applicants’ for education ecological culture should combine two interrelated components: 1) their acceptance of the values of a healthy lifestyle (propaganda component); 2) acquisition of knowledge and skills necessary for independent fulfillment of requirements and knowledge transformation to applicants for education in future professional activities (content, information and practical plans).
