Abstract
This article is devoted to the historiographical aspect of military psychology, in particular combat stress. The consequence of combat stress is combat mental trauma. Combat stress accompanies combat operations. Combat trauma is as old as humanity itself. Mental injuries have been recorded since antiquity. The systematic study of combat psychological trauma began in the 17th century. The more technological the war, the greater the number of psychological disorders among the soldiers of the warring parties. The number of injured has been progressing since the time of the Franco-Prussian war to the present day.
