Abstract
The article examines the essence and features of developing model programs for natural science subjects for grades 5-9 in general secondary education institutions in the context of implementing the "New Ukrainian School" concept. It describes the main provisions of legislative documents, particularly the Law of Ukraine "On Complete General Secondary Education" and the "State Standard of Basic and Secondary Education", which define the model program as a document aimed at achieving expected learning outcomes. The model programs for natural science subjects, available on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, are analyzed, identifying three types of descriptions of expected outcomes: programs where learning outcomes align with the state standard without specification; programs where outcomes are specified according to the learning content; programs where outcomes are described solely based on specific learning content without reference to the state standard. The necessity of integrating interdisciplinary connections, ensuring the practical orientation of learning, and developing communication skills in professional activities is proven. Examples of applying interdisciplinary connections (biology and chemistry, biology-chemistry-physics, biology-physics) at different stages of the lesson are provided through the implementation of integrated educational disciplines in the training process of future specialists. It is substantiated that the learning outcomes, which are one of the main tasks of the “New Ukrainian School” concept, are still insufficiently realized in the model educational programs for natural science subjects for students in grades 5–9. This is likely related to the qualitative formulation of mandatory learning outcomes in the state standard, requiring the development of new methodological approaches to ensure the integrity of the educational process, which combines learning and upbringing.
